Startup Mahakumbh 2025: How Mitt Arv Got Everyone Talking

Ever thought about attending a startup event and ended up talking about… death? Sounds odd, right? But that’s exactly what happened at this year’s Startup Mahakumbh! Under the powerful theme ‘Startup India @ 2047: Unfolding the Bharat Story,’ the air was electric, ideas flying, energy buzzing, and right in the middle of all the excitement was Mitt Arv, a bold, quirky, and slightly unexpected Death-Tech company!

While most were talking about the future they wanted, we were there asking, “Hey, what about the legacy you leave behind?” That’s right! We proudly brought legacy planning and inheritance out of the shadows and into the spotlight, starting real conversations that matter.

For us, it wasn’t just about pitching a product. It was about breaking the silence around death, wills, and what comes after. We got people to pause, smile, reflect, and most importantly, talk. Here’s our story of impact, engagement, and growth from three unforgettable days at Startup Mahakumbh 2025.

So, What’s Startup Mahakumbh Anyway?

It’s one of India’s biggest events celebrating innovation, entrepreneurship, and the startup spirit. It started in March 2024 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, pulling together startups, investors, corporates, and government bodies under one roof. After the incredible success of the first edition, which was kicked off by none other than Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the 2025 edition came back bigger and better from April 3 to 5.

Mitt Arv’s Bold Mission

Startup Mahakumbh

In this highly energetic space, Mitt Arv,  a Death-Tech startup, made its mark. Mitt Arv addresses a sensitive yet crucial topic: death and legacy planning. While conversations about death have traditionally been considered uncomfortable or taboo in India, Mitt Arv is dedicated to changing that perception by creating awareness and promoting open discussions about inheritance and legacy planning.

Death is an inevitable part of life, yet planning for it is often overlooked, leading to confusion, disputes, and emotional distress among loved ones. Mitt Arv is on a mission to transform how society views this essential aspect of life. By providing tools that would help in estate planning, asset management, and preserving your legacy, Mitt Arv is committed to ensuring that every legacy is preserved, honored, and celebrated.

The Attention-Grabbing Reality

Mitt Arv created a space that sparked curiosity and encouraged meaningful conversations at booth 4MI.44 in Hall 4. Through bold and thought-provoking messaging, we aimed to shed light on topics that are often left unspoken.

One particular fact we highlighted, that over ₹1 lakh crore lies unclaimed in bank accounts across India, stopped many on their way. The scale of the issue surprised most visitors, opening up meaningful discussions around inheritance and the importance of legacy planning.

What truly set our booth apart was the unconventional use of the term “death-tech.” The unexpected fusion of death and technology caught the attention of nearly everyone who passed by.

A fun little moment happened on our way back to the hotel on Day 2. Thrifty Kapila, founder of Knockry – A Thrifty Ventures Company, couldn’t help but get curious about the term “death-tech” on our t-shirts. He approached us, asking what it meant, and we ended up having an awesome chat about our vision and mission. Kapila was so intrigued that he wanted to visit our stall, but he forgot where it was! So, as he told us, he ended up asking around, going from one person to the next, asking, “Where’s the death-tech startup?” until he found us.

The People Behind the Mission: Our Dream Team

Startup Mahakumbh

Our team of eleven, led by Ashwin V Jain, Co-founder and CTO of Mitt Arv, came together from across India—six from Hyderabad, one each from Ahmedabad, Agra, and Patiala, and two from Delhi. We met in Delhi at 8 AM, loaded with Legacy Books, Mitt Arv pamphlets, cool giveaways, and buckets of excitement. Sure, we had a few funny moments trying to find our booth, but we were up and running just in time to welcome the first wave of visitors..

Three Days of Engagement and Growth

Day 1 was all about introducing the Mitt Arv concept and creating awareness, and it worked.  As the event progressed, more and more people approached our booth through word-of-mouth recommendations, showing that our message was connecting with people.

Bhanu Pratap Singh, the CEO of Cashcry, one of the entrepreneurs present at Startup Mahakumbh, deeply resonated with our idea. He shared a personal anecdote about a conversation with his sister, who had once remarked, “We invest in so many things online, mutual funds, bitcoins, but how will our family even know about them after we die?” This insight perfectly captured the core of our mission and highlighted the growing need for digital legacy planning.

Our team engaged in countless impactful conversations, each interaction deepening our understanding of people’s genuine concerns. Listening to visitors’ personal stories, genuine concern, and acknowledgment of the problem reinforced our belief in the importance of our mission. Hearing statements like, “This is such a real issue—we all face it but never think about it,” validated the work we are doing and made it a proud moment for Mitt Arv.

Breaking the Taboo: “What Do You Wish to Leave Behind?”

At Startup Mahakumbh, we introduced a unique approach by asking attendees an emotionally resonant question: “What do you wish to leave behind?” The question prompted deep reflection and meaningful responses from visitors.

Some people were hesitant, while some understood the importance of planning these things now. We even received a few humorous responses, such as “my loans and debts.” Someone even wrote, “Pay off all my girlfriends,” which made our stomachs hurt. Many attendees took the time to thoughtfully write down their legacies, sharing intimate thoughts about their values, life lessons, financial assets, and more.

These heartfelt responses highlighted the genuine need for a structured approach to legacy planning and the importance of openly discussing death and inheritance.

Ending the Three-Day Event

Representing Mitt Arv at Startup Mahakumbh was a remarkable and fulfilling journey. The event reinforced our purpose and gave us renewed confidence in the importance of our work. The enthusiastic responses and deep conversations we had with attendees reassured us that our efforts are genuinely impactful.
